Glenturret 26 YO 1986 Bottling Note

Released by Hunter Laing in collaboration with the Glenturret distillery in the Highlands, this 1986 vintage single malt Scotch whisky has been strictly limited to 2400 bottles. Matured for 26 years in refill bourbon casks and bottled without colouring or chill-filtration, this is special team effort that the distillery and bottler should be very proud of.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Decadent toffee popcorn, milk chocolate and apple all appear at first, followed by soft hints of sandalwood.

Palate: Fragrant vanilla blended with caramel. Golden syrup drips in, rich and sugary.

Finish: Soft ginger spices shake up the finish very well.

Overall: Masses of flavour sit within this Glenturret, just waiting to blossom on the palate. Superb.

  • Nose

This whisky is wonderfully complex on the nose with sweet, fruity notes such as toffee apples combining with strong confectionery elements including milk chocolate & caramel along with toffee popcorn & even some orange peel. The nose develops with hints of tropical flowers & fragrant woody notes including sandalwood & furniture polish. With the addition of some water it then becomes a little briny & musty.

    Taste

On the palate, this Glenturret remains sweet with sherbet, some gentle spice and toffee notes. The caramel and golden syrup notes carry across from the nose to the palate and combine with an appealing vanilla sweetness.

    Finish

The finish is medium to long, with caramel and ginger spice lingering on the palate.
